Museum and Library Located in Shelbina, Missouri
The purpose of this Society shall be to bring together all citizens of the county interested in the history, legends and landmarks of Shelby County, Missouri to discover and to collect material to establish or illustrate the exploration, settlement, development and progress of the county, to collect material such as histories, genealogies, biographies, descriptions, directories, newspapers, pamphlets, catalogs, programs, posters, manuscripts, charts, surveys, letters, diaries, journals, pictures, photographs, scenes, and relics, illustrative of lfe, conditions, events, and activities of the past and present. The Society will provide for the preservation of such material in a Shelby County Museum, and will undertake the preservation of historic buildings, monuments, and markers. The Society will disseminate historical information and arouse interest in the past by using the media of newspapers, radio and television to awaken public interest. The Society will cooperate with the Missouri State Historical Society to collect and preserve materials of state wide interest.
